God’s Promises to us! (Wednesday 24-03-2010)
Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way - Psalm 25:8-9 (NIV)
God almighty, please have mercy on us while we humble ourself infront of you. Lead us the way and teach us right from wrong. Teach us the way of humbleness, sincerity and servility that we can follow in Jesus’s footsteps. (Source: 120-dae gebedsfokus op HERLEWING).

God se Beloftes aan ons!
God’s Promises to us!
TUESDAY 23-03-2010
Psalm 12:5 (1983)
_____________
"Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy, I will now arise," says the LORD. "I will protect them from those who malign them." Psalm 12:6 (NIV)
_____________
The Afikaans Bible uses the word “mishandel”, when translated to English it is ABUSE!
Abuse can happen on many levels. Physical, psychological, abuse of rights, verbal abuse, abusing of the law or abusing Gods name by using it in vain.
If a person who is in an abusive relationship whether verbally, emotionally, physically, again and again abused does not have to stay in such a relationship. The bible nowhere suggests that you should be force to stay in such a relationship.
The bible is also pretty clear on what we as believers have to do. We have to reach out to such people.
There are many verses in the Bible that tells us to help. Just to mention a few: Psalm 74:21, Proverbs 14:31, Proverb 31:9, Jeremiah 22:3, Luke 4:18 and many more.
The one that say it very clearly is Proverb 31:9: Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
AND
Then the one that tells husband how to treat their wives:
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. 1 Peter 3:7
These are only a small sample of the Lord’s reprimands to believers to help the oppressed.
- Psalm 37:39-40
_____________
The salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD; he is their stronghold in time of trouble. The LORD helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him. - Psalm 37:39-40 (NIV)
_____________
We need to believe and trust this promise. The Lord is with you and me and wants to help us. He is willing and able to change our lives forever. Won’t you and I allow Him to work in us and save us?
SATURDAY 20-03-2010
Die Here is my lig en my redder, vir wie sou ek bang wees? Die Here is my toevlug, vir wie sou ek vrees? – Psalm 27:1 (1983)
_____________
The LORD is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life of whom shall I be afraid? – Psalm 27:1
_____________
Do you expect that God will always ensure that everything will always be going right for you? This is unfortunately that is not how God operates. Things can also go wrong for us as Christians. We fall ill, we fail an important test, you get left out of the first team after months of practice or you get loos your job. It will not always go well with us as Christians.
There will be times where you will, like David who wrote Psalm 27, ask: Where is God? Why has he forsaken me?
Even Jesus did ask while he was on the cross why God has forsaken him. We know that God did not leave Jesus but He had to go through it alone for our sins.
You should know that God will never leave you, but since we live in a sinful and broken down world we will get times when things go wrong and we go through difficult times.
BUT one thing is that is guaranteed is that God will NEVER EVER leave us to go alone through bad times no matter how bad things are!
We can always trust Him to be there for us so it is up to you to you to keep you on going and to keep on living for God. You know he will give you something better in this broken world.
Psalm 145:8 (1983)
_____________
The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. Psalm 145:8 (NIV)
_____________
Every day we just have to look around us in our personal life’s to see how gracious, companionate and full of love God is. The fact that he has given you the opportunity to read this is proof enough of his grace and love onto us! He has gives all of us another day to go out and praise Him. He has given us another opportunity to go and do what he wants us to do. Use it to fullest to go out there to sow the seeds of His Word! Just walk up to the first person that you see and tell him or her that God loves them to!
You want to compare yourself to others and their earthly belongings, where that does not matter at all! God have given every person a talent whether it is to be able to sing good, to be well spoken, to be able to build and make things with your hands etc. Once you have found your talent AND use it to carry His word into the world and He will with his great love provide you with the rest.
- Romeine 1:16 (1983)
_____________
I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. - Romans 1:16 (NIV)
_____________
There always has been and will be people that will be ashamed to acknowledge that they believe in God. A lot of people hide behind excuses where they say: “I am a shy person”, or “I cannot talk about spiritual things without being uneasy about it” etc etc. They therefore keep quite when they have to speak out or testify.
It is so that even today (as it was for the Christians in Rome) we are living in a world that does not accept the word of God and even hostility can be experience if you talk about God and his Word.
One of the greatest examples of this is Jesus himself. He was accused to be someone that was under the influence of alcohol and he was totally rejected by society and crucified.
What is the worst that can happen to you if you these days if you proclaim God as your saviour? Your so called friends disappear? You do not get invited to social get together?
SO WHAT!
Surround yourself with fellow Christians so that your faith and confidence can grow so that you can go back to those friends that pushed you away and invite them to GOD!
As julle ander mense hulle oortredings vergewe, sal julle hemelse Vader julle ook vergewe. - Mattheus 6:14
_____________
For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. - Matthew 6:14
_____________
How many times have we heard “I will never forgive him/her/them”. It is almost a guarantee that we have at some time in life spoken those words!
Not forgiving has so many consequences and negative impacts in our lives, but still we do it! We do not realize how serious God is about this and what the outcome will be if we do not forgive.
God is a God of love and the in the Bible there are many references to forgiving. He forgives us every time when we humbly ask him for forgiveness and he will never again hold it against us.
Although forgiving is a choice you have to know that every Christian must be able to forgive. When you sow unforgiving you will reap unforgiving!

Matheus 18:4 (1983)
_____________
Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven Mathew 18:4 (NIV)
_____________
Sometimes we think it is the more important to be first, the prettiest, the biggest and more clever than others.
This is not what Jesus said. He said it is more important to consider others than ourselves.
If we want to be greatest in God’s eyes it is better to rather want to be a servant than to be served.
Our prayer to God should be: “Dear God help us to constantly remember to be great we must be prepared to humble ourselves. Amen

As hy siek is, sal U hom genees. Psalm 41:2-4 (1983)
_____________
Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the LORD delivers him in times of trouble. The LORD will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes. The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness. Psalm 41:1-3 (NIV)
_____________
Firstly being able help someone you need to see the world from their viewpoint. You would need to think about how that person feels as if you are in his/her shoes. This is how you will begin to feel compassion for the person. You will start to think about what you can do to help the person’s needs.
You also will have to from time to time use your own recourses, whether it is time, money and effort. When giving your time, money and effort you will give your heart to.
Doing this can be exhausting on all levels, emotional, physical and spiritual.
You therefore need to make sure that you are strong when starting to help the weak and needy.
Put this into God’s hands and he will give you the strength for it.

- Spreuke 11:28 (1983)
_____________
Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf. - Proverbs 11:28 (NIV)
_____________
What is God saying to us?
BEWARE! We can be so busy trying to live on a high living standard, that we can easily forget why we were placed on earth. For example: I can be working so hard to get more money that my relationship with God are damaged by me not having time to do bible study. It can also cause me not having time to to spend with my family. Have you ever when making a big financial dissision in you life considered how it can and will impact on you realationship with God?
This does not mean we have to be poor. It is saying to us to balance our lives to give God and our family the time that Him and them has to get and deserve.
